It’s been a busy first half-term in PE, with students trying new activities, working towards sport qualifications and making the most of external facilities. A particular highlight has been the launch of our first school football team, which recently competed in its very first tournament!
We are delighted to welcome Matt to the school and as a new member to the PE department. Matt is currently delivering one of our new courses (NCFE Gym instructing) to some of our Post–16 students.
Our students have taken part in a range of core PE activities, developing their fitness and teamwork skills, and growing in confidence across a variety of sports such as hockey, football, rugby, tennis and gym sessions.
Alongside this, we have been teaching students in Year 10 and 11 the NCFE Sport qualification and the Sports Leaders Level 1 and 2 qualifications.
This term we have made use of several different external sporting facilities. These venues have allowed students to experience different environments and take part in activities that may not always be possible within our usual school facilities.
One of the highlights of the term was the formation of our first school team; training weekly, we recently attended our first-ever football tournament!
The tournament gave students the opportunity to put their skills into practice in a competitive but enjoyable environment against 14 other schools. It was fantastic to see students showing teamwork, determination, sportsmanship and a real enthusiasm for football.
A huge well done to everyone who took part – we’re already looking forward to the next one!
After a busy first half-term, we’re looking forward to even bigger and better sporting achievements in the rest of the school year.
Next term we will continue to develop our Core PE programme and NCFE qualifications, while also looking to provide students with more opportunities to compete, participate and represent the school in sport.
There is plenty more to come from the PE department, so watch this space!
