  • Safeguarding

We are fully committed to protecting the safety, wellbeing and dignity of every student, and we expect all staff, governors, and volunteers to share this commitment. Our aim is to provide a secure, supportive and nurturing environment where all young people feel safe, heard, and valued.

We have clear safeguarding and child protection policies in place, which are reviewed regularly and underpinned by robust procedures for identifying, reporting and managing concerns. All safeguarding practices at In Toto Ed are guided by Keeping Children Safe in Education and other statutory frameworks.

To ensure the highest standards of care, we carry out rigorous safer recruitment procedures. All staff and regular volunteers undergo Enhanced DBS checks and are subject to ongoing scrutiny in line with statutory safeguarding requirements.

All staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role; from basic awareness for all team members, to specialist training for our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs). Training is regularly refreshed, and records are carefully maintained to ensure compliance and accountability. In additional to in-house training, all staff complete the annual safeguarding training through the National College and Adult Safeguarding through the TES. All staff in the safeguarding team also complete local authority training.

Every safeguarding concern, no matter how small, is taken seriously. Concerns are reported through our trained safeguarding team, who ensure appropriate actions are taken swiftly, confidentially, and in partnership with families and external agencies where needed.

We also recognise that safeguarding is about more than responding to risk; it’s about creating a culture of vigilance, trust, and open communication. We work closely with parents, carers and outside professionals to ensure that students are supported holistically – emotionally, socially and academically.

If you have any concerns about the welfare of a child, or a safeguarding issue involving a member of the school community, please contact a member of the London Safeguarding Team. Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are here to help and will respond with professionalism, care and the appropriate level of confidentiality.
