Choices College Trip

On Thursday 26^th February, three of our post-16 students boarded the train to explore the world of Choices College – an educational/work experience offering for post-16 students that can lead to paid employment and developing workplace employment skills.

The students took a tour of St Thomas’ Hospital and had the opportunity to see different workplace settings; including the cafeteria, where busy staff served fresh food to thousands of people coming in for their medical appointments. We also got the opportunity to see the loading bay, where food and supplies were delivered, checked, and then taken to the relevant departments.

The lead of the college, Harriett, said that there were a range of work experience jobs on offer, from working in administration, serving food, porting, or assisting with medical arrangements, to working in the Florence Nightingale Museum. There are many jobs available to students and are tailored to a myriad of different skills.

It was an enjoyable and educational experience for all of us and made for a fun and interesting visit.
