    Rob

    Occupational Therapist

Rob has worked as an occupational therapist for 6 years, with 9 years' experience working in specialist education settings, and now works with both our Cambridge and Peterborough schools. He holds a bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy and is currently completing a Masters in Sensory Integration. Rob is an Ayres Sensory Integration® Practitioner, trained to Level 3, with specialist expertise in sensory-based interventions for young people with complex needs.

Rob has spent 9 years working within a specialist school and residential setting, supporting young people aged 10-19 with autism, complex learning disabilities, and sensory processing differences. As the sole occupational therapist, Rob developed the entire OT service including creating individualised therapy packs, supervising therapy assistants and students, and delivering comprehensive assessments using both standardised tools and detailed observations. Rob works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including positive behaviour support, speech and language therapy, and nursing teams to ensure a holistic approach to care.

Rob understands the importance of neurodiversity-affirming practice and strives to implement this approach in his work, moving away from traditional behavioural approaches towards evidence-based, child-centred interventions. He has specialised training in sensory integration therapy and regularly delivers both individual and group sessions across a range of meaningful activities including cooking, gardening, and self-care. Rob has extensive experience creating person-centred goals, delivering staff training, and implementing therapeutic programmes across both educational and residential environments.

Previously, Rob worked for the NHS providing community paediatric occupational therapy and was redeployed to acute ward settings during the COVID-19 pandemic, gaining valuable experience in fast-paced clinical environments. Rob's early career included roles as an unqualified class teacher and PE specialist in specialist education, giving him unique insight into educational planning, behaviour management, and creating supportive learning environments.

Rob enjoys running and is currently training for the Milton Keynes Half Marathon. He is an avid Watford FC supporter and values maintaining work-life balance through physical activity and sport.

Rob is passionate about empowering young people to engage in their meaningful occupations through evidence-based, sensory-informed practice. He values building trusting therapeutic relationships and works collaboratively with families and teams to create sustainable, person-centred interventions that promote independence, regulation, and participation in daily life.
