Lawrence is Interim Head of School at In Toto Ed Cambridge. He has spent over 25 years in special education, most recently as Regional Director for SEND and Outdoor Learning at a large education group. Before that as Chief Executive of a special academy trust, where he led five schools supporting around 600 students with autism, moderate learning difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs.

He holds an MA in Education (Distinction), the NPQH and NPQEL, and is a Lead Practitioner with the Institute of Outdoor Learning. Across his career he has opened new specialist provisions, developed post-16 and vocational pathways, and introduced trauma-informed practice across whole staff teams.

Lawrence is a strong advocate for outdoor learning as a route to confidence and independence, having led Duke of Edinburgh expeditions and overseas trips for students with SEND. He is committed to making sure every young person leaves with a clear next step – into further study, work or their community.
